Reminder about birthday Celebrations in our Montessori School. MONTESSORI BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION – A LOVELY CELEBRATION OF LIFE CEREMONY Montessori birthday celebration gives a concrete way for young children to understand the months of the year and the earth’s revolution around the sun each year. It also is a way for children to feel special and to connect with their place in the world. To celebrate in class, we request parents to bring pictures of their child from each of his years and share important milestones at circle. A healthy snack for the group maybe be brought in to share. Some ideas for snack are small muffins (no cupcakes please), fresh fruit or crackers. Snack should be low in sugar.

Message from the Director: Some common topics related to young children’s language, self-control, consistency in routines and communication will be discussed on monthly bases.

This month’s topic is smooth transition at drop off.

Children need consistency and simple routines. If your child is having difficulty saying good-bye, coming to school or otherwise. Please choose one simple routine to do and clearly tell your child what you will do and say good-bye and return for pick-up at a time after nap or outside time. Tell them they are safe, and you know she/he will play and have fun. When the adult does this, it reinforces the child’s trust in the teachers/staff and the environment. The teachers are ready to help take over and assist in the transition. We will communicate with you via message/brightwheel about how your child is doing. Another important aspect is consistency of drop-off time. It helps when children know what to expect during the day. At school all children/teachers look forward to seeing all their friends, especially at circle, if anyone is missing, they ask for them. To provide consistency, make it a daily routine. Wake up, get ready for school, eat breakfast, and arrive at school. For more specific ideas, please email or message to schedule a meeting. We thank you for entrusting your beautiful children in our care. We appreciate the new families establishing the routine and making the drop off and pick up easy for their child.

September Curriculum Highlights:
