Warm Welcome to the new families of : Caleb Westman, Charlie Donner, Shepherd Forslund, Emerson Sidhu, Veera Shah, Tristan Liu and Lily Omid in the Sprouts classroom this month!!!
In the month of July, we will continue to enhance our curriculum with the study of the Farm, the foods that come from the farm. Children will learn new vocabulary from the food pyramid: Proteins, dairy, junk food, alternatives, fruits and vegetables. They are sorting foods by these categories. We are starting to taste foods from all categories: Grains, proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, and fats etc. Children are playing games with these vocabulary terms to become familiar with them. They are practicing the letter sounds with food names from A-Z. Children are also doing many other activities with food items like, counting with fruits, making fractions, scrubbing them clean, squeezing and making lemonade, cutting, and painting them. We will sprout moong beans in class to taste. The older children will journal their daily observations to record how many days it would take for the moong beans to sprout.
Summer activities will include learning about sea creatures and water play. Waterplay will be made available to children during this month. We will learn about fish, their body parts and their characteristics.
Sensorial: New colored sand activities are being introduced to the students to measure and transfer into bigger and smaller containers.
In Language: We will introduce the next sound family of “s, m,a, and t”. The older students are playing with rhyming sounds and are coming up many new words.
In Math: The children are continuing to enhance their number to symbol association skills, while some of the older children are working on addition, subtraction and even multiplication.
Thank you for entrusting your beautiful children in our care.
