Holiday Feast: Tuesday December 19 at 11:45 AM. The children have asked to have a feast at school. We will be sending the list of items for your child to bring to school no later than December 14, 2023. Children will clean, wash, cut the vegetables and we will make a vegetable stew at school. It will be accompanied with rolls, butter (optional), fruit and cookies ( we will Bake them at school.

Circle Time Routine: Our circle time routine consists of a welcome song, “ Good Morning/Good Afternoon”, Calendar which includes months of the year, days of the week, season and weather, movement song and presentation of an activity from the curriculum. Children get a job for the day. In Language, we will introduce the next letter family: “ d,w,e,n” in the month of December. The children are practicing matching pictures with objects and spelling the words. Children will be creating many art works using the holiday colors: green, red, gold and silver. Sciences: We will introduce Physical science concepts:
Montessori environment reaches out in all directions of physical science, astronomy, or meteorology. It raises their awareness of the universe and their place in the cosmos. It places math, language, arts, cooking, music, knowledge of the stars, weather, clouds, hemisphere, the countries, and everything else into children’s environment for them to explore. The exercises of physical sciences further enhance the inquisitive mind. The basic experiments of light, sound, energy electricity, and magnetism are not only interesting but also give some real facts to the children. We will present many vocabulary terms like lab equipment, beaker, test tube, measure, chart, iron fillings, magnifying glass, gravity, friction, 3 states of matter, liquid, solid, gas and electro-magnet. Some experiments related to these will be introduction to light and shadow, refraction and reflection.
Spanish December curriculum: December is an exciting month with lots of new Spanish vocabulary words. Children will be introduced to winter season words such as Invierno, (winter) abrigo, (coat) gorro, (beanie) nieve (snow) and a lot more words related to December. We will be playing guessing games such as describing hot chocolate, gingerbread house, candy canes, mittens, and having children guess by presenting pictures of objects. This is a great game to help children with comprehension and following a sequence of steps.
