New Staff Introduction: MIA is very excited to welcome Maria Soledad Andrade, AKA Ms. Marisol to our program. She has a BA in Psychology from Ecuador, where she grew up and raised her three daughters. She has moved to Concord to be closer to her children and granddaughters. Her hobbies include reading, writing and dancing. She is continuing her education in Early Childhood at DVC. She is very excited to join MIA team of dedicated staff to grow in the field.

Please see important information for picture day readiness and prices attached.

We would like to request that all students are present in the morning no later than 9:15 AM for class pictures. We want to capture all our beautiful group of children for the class pictures. Ordering pictures is optional through Blue Note Photography.

Reminder: Please apply sunscreen once on children before dropping off, for full-time children we will reapply in the afternoon before going out.

Classroom Activities

Practical Life: Spring activities with eggs whole hand transfer, spooning, dry and wet pouring. Bubble/froth making, color mixing and sieving.

Language: The initial sounds of “q and r”. the booking making with all sounds covered so far “a-p”.  letter formation practice for older children.

Story books this month: “The very little girl, Little cloud, Emily’s balloon, Shadows”.

Math: Continue to use spring objects to reinforce symbol and quantity association. Practice number formation.

Sciences: Spring season curriculum activity: We are very excited to introduce the life cycles of lady bug and butterfly to the children next week. They will observe, feed them and learn the names egg, caterpillar, chrysalides, butterfly, egg, larva, pupa and adult ladybug.

Due to continued interest from the students we are introducing and reintroducing the  “The Solar System”. They will be learning the names of the eight planets, the asteroid belt, and the Pluto and the Kuiper belt. Some basic concepts about each of them and their sequence from the sun. We are using a model of the solar system, Montessori picture cards, puzzles and bookmaking to reinforce the concepts. If students can write, they are practicing writing others are cutting and pasting vocabulary words to label pictures.

We will celebrate Earth Day on April 22 with Reuse, Reduce and Recycle initiative discussions and practices.

Sensorial: Grading with wooden knobbed cylinders and knob less cylinders, rabbit faces ordering from largest to smallest.

Smelling jars with common household spices like cinnamon, black pepper, and rose water.

Art: Exploring art with finger paints and making clouds and rainbows and lots of spring works with flower making.

We are requesting all children to be dropped off at school no later than 9:15 AM.
